8/3 workout strong squat workout today, I have alot of confidence going into my set of 10 next sat., looking to hit 745 for 10 or more. Although, Mike is raw, I've had to elevate my 'game' a bit. He's so strong raw that I've really had to step up my lifting. I think to myself that if I'm in gear that I really have to exceed what he is doing in order to justify wearing the gear. I feel like every Sat I have to bring my A game in order to beat him. I'm excited about this squat cycle.

Ha, don't let Jim fool ya that set of 5 today was fast and easy. Getting to work out with someone that is stronger than me is some of the best motivation I can get.

bench felt strong today, getting more benching in now, getting back some of the strength that I lost. Kitana has loosened some, need to send it back and get it tightened up.

8/9 little disappointed with my squat. My first attempt at 745 I was cruising along and lost my groove on my 7th rep and went down to the safety pins. I think I was coming up a little fast and I was tipping forward. Tried it again and got 8 reps, but should've had 11 or 12 on the first set.

tweaked my low back pulling 730, must have gotten a bit sloppy. Skipped the ME squats, will rest up this week and hit the ME squats next weekend.

thought that my dl yesterday would effect my squat today, back was a tad tight. The squat actually went well, a PR for me at that band tension. In 2 weeks will try 2 mediums and a small with 255 bar weight, that will be a huge PR. Anyway, have to start focusing on 845 for reps on Sunday. My 13 year old son and his 14 year old friend will be competing in Gene's IPA state meet on Sat. Looking forward to that.

Jim had a beast of a workout. 335 and 2 sets of doubled mediums! Just sick.

Jim,
I was just wondering how your rotating your sq and dls these days? It looks like you do a week of reps, a max effort dl and then a max effort sq(one of those each week for three weeks, then repeat). Thanks.

right now we definitely do not have any sort of structure to our dl training, basically when we have the time to do a dl workout we get it done. I don't like to go more than 3 weeks without a dl workout. After we all max our squat in a few weeks, we will start a new squat and dl cycle at the same time and try to be more disciplined with our dl training.

9/14 I'm having problems with the bar rolling after I unrack with heavier weight. 845 felt real light and I just flew up with the weight, but with the bar a little lower it forces me over and out of my groove. It doesn't allow me to drop fast and explode up, I had to come down slower so that I wouldn't start rocking, coming down slower cost me at least 1-2 reps. I'm going to try and set the bar a tad higher on my back and really squeeze my shoulder blades together and see if I can keep the bar in place. ME squat next weekend with 2 sets of mediums and smalls then we'll do some max singles in 2 weeks, then back to the SSB.

my 900 x 2 went well today. The depth is actually pretty good. I was watching a Donnie Thompson training video not to long ago and took notice of his stance. I brought my stance in some and I'm able to crack my hips better without leaning forward. I'm happy with my squat right now, both strength and depth. The 900 x 2 is part of a training video which I'm making for someone and there web site, once I get the video's done and they're out there I get the info out.
