Jim,
Been viewing your site over the years. I am in my early 50's and it seems that my bench strength has fallen quickly in the past year. In particular my lockout. Outside of board and band work do you do any other triceps exercise? Any suggestion for the older guys that don't want major bench increases but still want to maintain their current level?

In your early 50's, make sure you are allowing for plenty of rest and recovery between your workouts, overtraining will cause you to regress quickly. We do no assistance work for our bench and have no signs of regressing. When we cut out all the 'extra's' and started benching once every 5 days our strength took off. Most important, when we started incorporating the band rotations that we now use and keeping our reps above 5, we all noticed an increase of strength. When Mazza did his 705 this past Dec., not once during his training did his reps fall below 7 for anything and he felt great that day. Go on the homepage for this site, click on 'contact' send me a phone number and I can give you a call if you like.

I have noticed when I bench only once per week as opposed to the 20 years of twice a week I feel better but the strength has gone down. I will try the five day rotation as you suggest. I was search for your higher rep and band template but cant seek to find it. Can you please share with me. I felt that my strength was at its peak around 48-49 but has since gone down. I have also cut the number of sets down and that is why I was inquiring about assistance exercises.
