Hi there,
I read your article about Joe Mazza in Ironman and started on the program listed there. I was more of a westside guy before, so this was a refreshing change.
The only thing I had to alter was the frequency of the workouts. Instead of doing the two workouts over a one week period it's 14 days for me. And since i changed to 14 days my gains are coming RAPIDLY. In fact, I am turning 40 in March and anticipate all new records by then, drug free, raw. Most recently I was throwing around 405 plus the bands for my board presses and it was actually pretty easy. On the "8-9 rep test day" I pressed 365 for 10, which is a record for me.
I sometimes condemn myself for not being able to hang with the one week cycle, but I keep hurting myself when I do that...I am just too intense to recover in one short week. I eat well, sleep well, but I do have low testosterone so that's always been an issue...even with treatment it's mediocre.
Anwyay, do you condemn me for this as well? Am I doing something wrong or should I be satisfied with what gains I am getting?

Have you looked into HRT. If you do have low testosterone i believe you can get a doctor to prescribe the cream. Anyway, I'll have to look into this, I'm not sure if your testosterone levels have anything to do with your recovery time, or how the muscles recover between workouts. Basically, you are doing 1 workout every 7 days. Joe and i try to go every 5th day, usually because of work or family it can be 6 or 7 and we suffer no strength loss. With the heavy bands that we use, an extra day of rest is never a bad thing. As long as you are making gains, stick with it. Are you watching the videos on youtube? they'll answer a lot of questions about the system. Glad to see you getting good results.
