Just read this one and I think it is the best piece of advice anyone could pick up off this website. To really appreciate the boys training you have to see it. I think Jim is getting some video of there workouts and hopefully he'll put that out for everyone to obtain. It is truly awesome to see. For anyone who thinks bare bones training is not enough consider this, before going on Jim's simplified template the most weight I ever squatted was 635x1. After 4 or 5 weeks with Jim working out twice a week doing only squat, bench, and some deadlifting I squatted 655x7 to depth. Within 3 months I hit 705x5 and 735x3. Lifetime drug free. If you get the necessary equipment to do the system and put in the required effort there is no doubt this system will work for anyone. Just my 2 cents.

Mike: the kids will be lifting at Gene's on Feb 21. There lifting is going real well, all will be repping over 300 in the squat and probably opening around 300. just awesome to watch.

Hello!
Newbie to the forum and to JA training but have been training Westside template 2 years drug free. Current PRs are 501 squat, 330 bench, and 485 deadlft at 5'3" 165lbs bodyweight.
I am all set to try the Simplified template as I am 42 years old and take longer to recover. My question is, how does the simple template work for gear? I noticed there were no touch sets for bench. Is there a "cycling" of the gear where you would start (for instance square) with straps down? Then as cycle progresses you add straps/knee wraps? Also, for the template to fit work/life schedule I thought I could do the six workout cycle in two weeks and rotate the three cycles together for a 12 week training cycle. Would that stray too much from the idea of the training routine?
I've been going thru all the FAQ articles and logs and can't find any info on this. Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated.

First, I need to update and complete the simplfied template. The workouts, all 6 cycles are based on full gear, straps and knee wraps. This allows you to always train with the most band tension/ bar weight in order to develop the most strength possible. Each cycle is 2 weeks, all 6 cycles = 12 weeks. Your not going to hinder your training if you make an adjustment here and there to work around your personal life.
I will update my log and Mazza's this week, but my log is as simple as it gets. I just do not have anything labeled right now as far as days and cycles. If that would help let me know and I will put something together.

Thanks for the response Jim! I actually saw your 25th Cycle log and saw that it was 6 cycles/12 weeks of the Simplified Template. I had looked through all the old logs and didn't see that one.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback on the gear as well. I'm starting tonight!
