Hi.
I stumbled onto your board after researching WBS and other powerlifting sites. I am 36 years old and bench 310. I am just an average joe in Orlando, FL looking to some day break the 400 mark.

Kenny's raw log is something to look at. It took 2 cycles to get Kenny from 205 to 300. In the JA tape section, the raw bench video features Kenny and his son and explains everything we do. It's about 90 minutes and is very detailed.

Thanks, Jim. By the way, I think your site is great and the fact that you publicly share the JA system is even better. I've been going through all the articles and most of the posts over the past couple of weeks - lots of info to sift through ... and I've discovered that I've probably been lifting wrong for years. I guess it's never too late to learn!

you and me both, I lifted wrong for over 10 years as well. Keeping an open mind and my willingness to try anything (except drugs) to get stronger led to the development of this system. Alot of lifters have benefited from all or parts of this system. I don't see the point in trying to keep everything a big secret, glad you enjoy the site.

question if any can help unfortunately don't ahve the ability to do Reverse bands or much bands at all due to was training alone alot for a while.
But regarding raw benching weight shoots up fast to midpoint or slightly above then went back over my head and much slower. Is that triceps ? need for floor presses Thanks.

whether you lift raw or with a shirt, everyone has a groove. If you are benching the traditional way, or like I call the body building way, with your elbows out at 90 degrees and bringing the bar down to your upper chest, you are not in a good groove. when holding the bar make sure your index finger is at the outer ring and then try and rotate your wrists outwards or 'breaking the bar' This will allow you to tuck your elbows in on the way down bringing the bar to your lower chest or upper abs, then has you push up you will flare your elbows back out and let the bar float up over your upper chest. You will be benching in a slight arc, not in a straight line. My intro to bench shirt video shows all this in detail. Do what you can to train with bands, they are the most effective way to build strength and improve your bench. I just finished shooting a series of intro videos for Iron Woody, hopefully they will be on his site soon.

I train by myself for years with bands,All you need is a power rack and go at it.
