just thought i'd say hello to jim parrish and everybody on the site.
here to read and pickup on any information that can help me get more out of me.im 5'5'' and 180lbs and am 36 yrs. old.my ultimate quest is a raw double bodyweight bench.my best touch n go is 310.i hope to eventually hit that goal and build off that.
i recently hurt my back from squatting but my best was 315x2 but i just started working legs this past year.i never deadlifted and am going to start when the back feels better.my best pullups is 22 reps
my weakness in the bench is bottom power so im currently focusing on that as i have decent tricep power.
i think this site is more geared toward the shirted bencher but i find it informative and glad its here
thanks for putting the effort to have this site to enjoy
maybe someday i will have the chance to workout w/ ya jim
im from hanover pa not far from gettysburg

stop up anytime! 5'5" 180, another Joe Mazza, I'd like to get my hands on you. Mike Christian just started back with me and does all 3 lifts raw and I train several kids and they are all raw, and they all do very well with this system.
I believe that by building tremendous overall band strength that in itself will develop your strength off your chest. I live outside of Bangor, 18013, not sure how far that is for you, but shoot me an IM if and when you want to stop up. We just deadlifted yesterday, going to squat on Sat and Mike wants to do some benching after we squat. We usually get together twice a week but are going to try a 3rd day if schedules permit. Mike is a very strong raw lifter, you would probably benefit from lifting with him once in a while. He is planning to compete raw at the IPA state meet in Allentown in Sept.

in order for this band training to work you have to be set up to use heavy tensions, that usually means a power rack bolted to a platform.

I just have tube steel going from front to back about 4 inches off the floor, works well. second thing is, having workout partners and spotters when using heavier bands.

It might seem like you wont build strength off the chest with the bands but you do, i think its becasue the bands are pulling the bar down so hard, i cant seem to make any progress anymore from just free weights lol.
