My name is Dale and I live in S. Jersey. I'm 54 years young and I currently weight about 225 lbs. I have been competing in the bench only since 1996. I had been training Westside method for several years with sucess. Last year I had a colonoscophy and the doctors discovered that I had a large polyp on my colon that had to be removed. My doctor perscribed some medication but it did not help. I had the surgery (right colectomy) and everything was a sucess. Eight weeks later I returned to the gym to begin working on my come back. I tried westside training and did a Bill Gillespie bench routine but just couldn't get back to my old self . I had heard about JA but I was unsure about my age and how my joints would hold up to all that band tension week in and week out.. I spoke with Jim and he convinced me that my age would not hold me back. So I started a routine in August and just finished up my first wave several weeks ago. Prior to starting this routine I benched 385 for 1 rep when I maxed out 2 weeks ago I hit 420 easily and could of gotten more but one of my spotters had to leave so I cut it short. Anyway that's a 35 lb. increase in about 12 weeks. I just started a new wave and I'm all ready hitting PR's. I'm just sorry that I didn't start this routine sooner I would of been that much stronger. And another thing my shoulders use to hurt for days after working out, NOT NO MORE. I'm very excited about this new routine and I'm planning on competing again in 2005. I finally believe that I'm on the right track and my bench is going to go through the roof. Thanks Jim for answering all my dumb questions and getting me on the right track........
