Anyone had something like this? It is a tender bump on the palm of the hand just below the ring finger apparently from strain on the tendon. Not too bad day to day but hurts like hell and leaves half my palm bruised after deadlifting and benching.
Doctor says nothing to be done but "lift lighter weights"
Any ideas?
Oh, if it is not a ganglion cyst it is a permenant hand crippling disease called Dupuytren's Contracture. So I am going with the ganglion thing.

This is an inflammation of the flexor tendon sheath. The same sheath inflammed in a trigger finger. Sometimes steroid injections can help this. I have rarely seen ganglion cysts in the palms. I usually see them on the top of the wrist. What you are describing does NOT sound like a Dupuytren's Contracture.
I have had this flexor tendon sheath thing before and it does get better.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the feedback. Your assessment seems to match with how this thing is progressing. The "bump" has become a hard swelling along most of the length of the tendon. There is no loss of flexibility so It must not be Duypuytren's contracture. I have been wearing lifting gloves which suck for Deadlifting and the heavier benching but seem to be allowing the hand to slowly heal. I don't dare blame any lifting shortfalls on this or 'the coach' would rake me over the coals! ;D
