I'm getting elbow pain which I think may be bicep tendonitis as I have occasional pain in my shoulder joint and also some in the bicep. It will stop me benching and the elbow is tender most of the time.
I have a bench & deadlift meet coming up in a month today and a full meet at the end of Jan.
Is it better to take a few weeks off to rest and miss next month's meet or there anything that I can do to allow me to continue working out?

Is the elbow pain on the outside or the inside? Also, does it hurt when wearing the bench shirt (if you use one)? If the pain is on the outside, it may be a strain of the muscle that is in between the biceps and triceps. Try using a neoprene elbow sleeve for warm ups, then go to the workout. You probable cannot use them at the meet. You may also have two separate problems going on ( biceps tendonitis and rotator cuff tendonitis).
Let me know if I can be of further help. DrJBozzelle

The pain is mainly on the inside. It started when I did some bicep curls with bands. I worsened dramatically when I used my shirt (Fury) last Saturday. and has been aching since.

2 Weeks on and it feels now as if I've hit the funny bone. I get a tingling sensation in my middle finger if I stretch my arm out and part of the finger is slightly numb. I haven't lifted since the first post.
Any ideas?

This sound like an ulnar nerve compression across (or at) the elbow. This can be confirmed w/ a nerve conduction study. It is caused by over stretching the nerve by flexion of the elbow. The major symptoms are elbow pain w/ numbness of the pinky and 1/2 of the ring finger. On rare occassions, the nerve con go to the middle finger as well. Conservative management to decrease the inflammation of the ligament that causes the entrapment (anti-inflammatories, ice, wearing an elbow pad backwards at night to prevent full flexion of the elbow so that the nerve does not get overstretched. Let me know how it goes.

Just an update.......
I've been taking ibuprofen 3x a day, stopped today as it seems 90% better and my stomach can't take NSAIDS for very long. I've been lifting again the last few days, just light workouts to get the blood flowing.
The pain has gone and most of the tingling. I still have a little numbness on the inside of my middle finger, but the finger tip seems back to normal. I guess it's just going to take time.
I'll continue with the ice treatment until I'm 100%, just in case.
Thanks again for taking the time to help!
